The role will include (but is not limited to): Formulation of the business plan for the Bridges group in line with company overall direction. Focus on Business Development activity to enhance and grow the proposition and offering of the Bridges team both internally and externally. Works with the Partners and/or Business Group Leader to plan the strategy for marketing initiatives, fee proposals and bids which will include creating opportunities for new work with existing clients, the promotion of other technical disciplines with existing clients as well as speaking to new clients and professionals. To develop links and synergies with the existing infrastructure and structures design teams to promote integrated working To provide a national service supporting projects across the UK from long term infrastructure planning through to design and construction delivery Responsibility for the direction, mentoring, training and performance management of the Bridges group. Responsible for the development of annual budgets and delivery of P&L targets for the Bridges team Deputises for the LLP Member / Business Group Leader as and when the need arises Undertakes the role of Technical Director/Manager on major projects as required including multi-disciplinary and Land Development projects. Oversees significant projects from conceptual planning stage through to construction Provides lead point of client contact defining and managing client needs, defining project technical specifications, manages risk, costs, fees and commercial requirements and managing all deliverables to ensure client satisfaction and commercial and technical project success. Provides high levels of specialist technical input and support for any civil engineering structure related project, giving commercial and technical direction. Designs and implements a continuous improvement strategy to improve the performance of the Bridges group. Regularly liaises with Business Group Leader and other Partners/Directors and HR to ensure best use of resources across the business from both utilisation and bidding perspectives. Ensure all technical aspects of the Groups' project work are undertaken in accordance with the Practice's QMS, EMS and H&S procedures Essential Skills: Excellent and demonstrable Business development capability Must be a Chartered/Fellow (MICE or MIStructE) with significant experience Strong skills and experience of designing / assessment in both steel and concrete Excellent knowledge of Eurocodes and BS 5400 Highly efficient strong capable leader who will have first class reporting and design skills. Will have substantial experience in the design of road and rail related structures including station works.
